Makeup techniques, just like any other trend tends to evolve over a course of time. Keeping an open mind can be tough sometimes because we all have a certain comfort in being set in our own ways. But when it comes to creative industries, especially Makeup, it is required to keep an open mind because it is influenced by various seasonal trends and we have to be ready to be receptive towards knowing that 2+2 is 4 but 8-4 is also 4. Every which way is correct till the time we achieve correct and satisfying results.
When we join makeup schools or institutes, we are taught everything in a certain way, like to comb eyebrows with a spoolie brush from the head of the eyebrow (start of the brows) moving in direction of the hair till the tail of the eyebrow while filling it. But makeup professionals who are working in the industry have developed their skills to brush the eyebrows backwards to just see the places where the eyebrow has no hair and the exact parts to fill in.
But in most of the places or any social media platform, it is shown or told to use minimum beauty products because it is said that “less is more.” But when we step into the industry we see that there are various other options when it comes to using the products. Like the skin, we can’t hide all the imperfections so we have to use the product a bit more than the usual depending on the type of skin.
Similarly, when we graduate from a Makeup school we are asked to attend various workshops where we are given a chance to interact with a lot of other Makeup Artists and are taught different makeup techniques or tips and tricks about makeup which helps in handling different clients.
So, embracing new makeup techniques and adopting new ideas will also give us the confidence to handle different clients and also give us incredible results.
