Chic Madame was designed by Riya Kamat and G Meetali, students of BSc. in Fashion and Apparel Design at JD School of Design powered by JD Institute of Fashion Technology, Bengaluru for JD Design Awards 2023. The collection was inspired by the timeless and classic designs of revolutionary and iconic fashion designer Coco Chanel. Her brand was popularized during post-WWI era. With subtle silhouettes she brought comfort, convenience, class and elegance to women’s clothing. Chanel drew inspiration from men’s wear fashion which were comparatively practical necessity for women. Apart from her ground-breaking garments she also created accessories which included pearls, chains, floral details and her favourite camellia flower. The young fashion designers tried to replicate Coco Chanel’s effortless yet fashionable styles and shapes. The chic collection included comfortable blazer coat, skirt and pants. The accessories from the work had pearl aesthetics. The fabric used in the garments were similar to the ones used by Chanel.

The collection won Luxury Prêt Wear Collection Award.
