About Course

Master of Arts or MA in Fashion Communication is a two-year postgraduate program offered by JD Institute of Fashion Technology centres in Bengaluru, Cochin in collaboration with Sunrise University. The program aims to expand and explore the scope, potential and innovative capabilities of new media, visual communication and digital tools in the practice of fashion. Equipping students with the knowledge and skill needed to meet the demands of the current industry, the program encourages the cohort to identify and practice their own specialised interest and become professionals at it. Supported by a pedagogy that emphases on the versatile and adaptive nature of the field, fashion communication plays an integral role in fashion and public engagement.

MA in Fashion Communication provides the skill and platform to explore the field of fashion styling, photography and communication to create content that is guided by their own independent and personalised vision. Focuses on developing the creative and technical tools and aptitude, students explore old and new media methods. Through the course of the program, students develop the ability to apply the fundamentals of communication and explore new and established methodologies of its practice, with an emphasis on understanding and meeting the demands of its end-user.

Course Overview

MA in Fashion Communication is intended for students who wish to make a career in the field of creative communication such as fashion journalism,  fashion styling, advertisement or any other media-related formats. It focuses on learning the methodologies of communication for different channels – new and established, and understanding the audience for effective articulation. The students develop an understanding and application of the basics of fashion, terminologies, major events that shaped fashion, design thinking, journalism, typography, editorial skills, photography, styling, media planning and buying and different CAD skills. This is a practice-based course that supports the student through a journey of self-realisation, creativity and innovation.
