Sportonic: A Tribute to Sister

Sportonic was designed by Monika Ramkumar, a student of Advanced Diploma in Fashion Design 2020 from JD Institute of Fashion Technology, Bengaluru for JD Design Awards. She paid tribute to her Athletic Sister – Bhavanthiga who is getting trained to be a badminton player and whose goal is to represent India in Rio Olympics.

Sports have the power to unite, inspire, and transcend boundaries. They teach us the values of teamwork, perseverance, and the pursuit of excellence. In the arena of sports, we witness the indomitable spirit of human potential, pushing the limits of what is possible. Whether as athletes or spectators, sports bring us together and remind us of the beauty of competition and the joy of triumph.

Since her sister prefers comfort, she sought to create a collection that suited her positive attitude.

Hence, Sportonic is a sporty casual wear designed for people who expect their outfits to be more comfortable and also exude a sporty look vibe. The collection was made up of loop knit fabric which has a natural soft and plush feel due to the looped pile construction. The loops create a cushioning effect, making it comfortable to wear against the skin. The structure of the fabric allows for increased surface area, which enhances its ability to absorb and wick away moisture. Loop knit fabric with Lycra contains elastane or spandex fibers, which provide excellent stretch and recovery properties. This elasticity allows the fabric to stretch comfortably in multiple directions, offering freedom of movement.
