Highlights of February 2026 at JD Institute of Fashion Technology: Where Classrooms Expanded Into Industry Corridors
February 2026 was not just another academic month at JD Institute of Fashion Technology & JD School of Design—it was a powerful reminder that design education thrives when it steps beyond four walls and into the real world.
1)Fabrics & Accessories Trade Show & Apparel Sourcing Fair 2026
A Global Textile Convergence — And JD Was There, At The Heart Of It

Held at the Trade Centre KTPO, Whitefield, Bengaluru, the Fabrics & Accessories Trade Show & Apparel Sourcing Fair (ASF) 2026 brought together global manufacturers, sourcing heads, buyers, and innovators under one roof.
As Official Academic Collaborators, JD was not just present—we were active participants.
Our students were on the ground, witnessing:
- Real-time buyer–supplier negotiations
- Trend forecasting conversations
- Global supply chain dynamics
- Fabric innovations and sustainable sourcing practices
This was immersive industry learning at its finest — tactile, dynamic, and globally relevant.
A standout moment was our student installation titled “SECOND LIFE”. The exhibit transformed discarded fabrics into a compelling narrative of renewal and sustainability, proving that responsible design is not a concept — it is a commitment.
Here, education didn’t observe the industry. It engaged with it.
2) Design Talk Series – II: From Classroom to Campaign
On February 26, students gathered at Block B for Design Talk Series – II: From Classroom to Campaign, featuring keynote speaker Muralidhar Hegde, CEO of Smartworks.
From 10 AM to 1 PM, the session unfolded as a candid industry masterclass. Mr. Hegde walked the students through:
- The workflow of an advertising agency
- Translating a client brief into a full-scale campaign
- Structured creative processes
- Industry expectations and professional readiness
It was more than a talk — it was a roadmap from academic learning to real-world execution.
3) Jaipur Display: Imagination Journey in Jewellery Design
Creativity took a cultural turn as BSc Jewellery Design (2024 & 2025 batches) and Diploma in Fine Jewellery Designing 2025 students presented their Jaipur Display.
Inspired by their experiential learning journey, the showcase translated heritage, craftsmanship, and contemporary aesthetics into stunning jewellery narratives — celebrating research-led design and storytelling through form.
4) Material Sourcing Visit – Gala Marble Store
As part of the Material Sourcing module, DID October 2025 Interior Design students explored marble, onyx, quartzite, granite, lava stone murals, Aristronea wardrobes, and upholstery materials.
This hands-on exposure allowed students to study finishes, applications, durability, and sourcing practices — bridging textbook knowledge with real-world material decision-making.
5) Factory Workshop Visit – Invisible Bed
BSc IDD 23 batch students attended a factory workshop conducted by Invisible Bed. The visit introduced them to:
- Multifunctional and space-saving furniture
- Mechanisms and engineering systems
- Emerging materials and technologies
- Execution of adaptable interior solutions
The session concluded with Workshop Certificates, recognising their industry engagement.
6) Indux Plus @ Bengaluru International Exhibition Centre (BIEC)
6th & 7th February 2026
The Interior Design Department organised an industry exposure visit to Indux Plus.
Day 1 focused on:
- Lift and elevator systems
- Smart vertical mobility
- Automated parking systems
Day 2 explored:
- Modular office workstations
- Upholstery innovations
- Sustainable lighting
- Heritage and handcrafted furniture
Students across multiple batches gained valuable insight into ergonomics, technology integration, and contemporary material innovations.
7) Live Construction Site Visit
Business of Interior Design Module
MSc Interior Design 2024 (A & B) and PGDID 2024 students visited an ongoing construction site as part of the Business of Interior Design course.
They observed:
- Contractor coordination
- BOQ interpretation
- Vendor management
- Timeline execution
- Cost and quality control
The visit revealed how design intent translates into built form — highlighting responsibility, collaboration, and strategic execution in professional practice.
A Month That Redefined Learning
February 2026 was not confined to classrooms. It unfolded across exhibition halls, marble yards, factory floors, design studios, and construction sites.
Seven events.
Multiple disciplines.
One philosophy — experiential learning.
At JD Institute of Fashion Technology, education is not paused until graduation. It evolves with the industry, grows with exposure, and prepares students to lead — not follow—the future of design.
