September at JD Institute Bangalore was a kind of wonder — a time when all the creative work met culture, learning crossed paths with laughter, and our campus was alive with events that mirrored the heart of the JD community. It was great to have guest lectures, celebrate festivals, and engage in hands-on workshops, so every week had something new to experience, explore and celebrate.
Guest Lecture with Kulsum Shadab Wahab

The first day of the month was positively charged with a Guest Lecture by Ms Kulsum Shadab Wahab, the visionary Founder of Ara Lumiere and Ara Pret. Her presentation “Purpose-Driven Design and Ethical Entrepreneurship” resonated very well with our final-year design students, and they could understand how fashion can be a marvel and, at the same time, a friendly one.
Expressing her own tale of brand-building that is honest and empowering, she showed grandeur does not only mean it is all about the visuals — it is about being worthy. She relayed her stories of challenges and triumphs, which were the basis of a rich interaction with the students to think big, but to do so with purpose.
The session was rounded off with a stimulating Q&A, when students zealously conversed with Kulsum about the necessity of one’s personality in sudden changes in the design world. It was a day of learning, motivating, and imparting truth from the depths of their hearts.
Festivities in Full Bloom — Onam Celebrations

The campus JD was thus turned from a plain area into a colourful painting depicting the month-old parade known as Onam celebrations that took place at our JD campus on September 4th, 2025. The atmosphere was full of all sorts of pleasures, folks, and the aroma of flowers, with students cooperating to make beautiful Pookkalams — floral art made of flowers representing the concept of flourishing and happiness.
The festival was further enlivened by dance performances and a fashion show that gracefully blended the old with the new. The students’ outfits spanned from traditional Kerala sarees to trendsetting ethnic styles of which staged the festival’s theme — living together in peace and harmony through the medium of art and design.
A Surprise with Heart — Teacher’s Day Celebrations

The following day, the Jediiian Design Council played a prank. On Teacher’s Day, the faculty was surprised. The event had the complementary parts of fun games, dance performances, and of course, the highlight — the cake-cutting ceremony, which spread joy and warmth throughout the venue.
It was a marvellous moment that showed how close the JD family is — where teachers are the guiding pillars, friends, and the shining lights of every student’s creative journey. The sum-up of the day’s events made everyone smile; thus, it became a celebration to remember.
Learning Through Craft — Pottery & Machine Embroidery Workshops

Creativity was taken to a hands-on level with two skill-building workshops this month.
For the B.Sc. Interior Design and Decoration 2025 batch, a Pottery Workshop was like a breath of fresh air for their curriculum. Under the guidance of knowledgeable artisans, students practised the art of shaping clay — and simultaneously explored texture, form, and symmetry. The workshop not only developed their understanding of spatiality but also their appreciation for skill and patience in design-making.

Meanwhile, Diploma Fashion students were engaged in a Machine Embroidery Workshop conducted by Mr Narsimha from Sainath Commercial Enterprises. This session allowed the learners to discover the complex world of embroidery machinery and the possibility of combining it with fashion for the creation of fine details & embellishments. The students have gained the technical know-how and artistic inspiration through the process of learning stitch techniques and experimenting with patterns, thus overcoming tradition with the help of technology.
Ending on a Festive Note — Navratri Garba Night

Filled with rhythm, colour, and twirls as JD hosted Navratri Garba Night—a beautiful evening with music, dance, and delight. The campus was transformed with students wearing bright ghagras and kurtas who, in sync with the traditional Garba melodies, were moving their feet.
The event was a perfect social mixer for the students in the Design department, as through music and dance, they were not only celebrating Navratri but also creativity, friendship, and the unity which makes JD not only an institute but also a community.
With such a bouquet of events ranging from dialogues to parties to creative workshops to celebrations in the hearts and minds of Jediiians, September 2025 at JD Institute Bangalore was a total reflection of what it meant to be a Jediiian. Every event, every moment, manifested our core value — that learning is not limited to conversation, celebration, and creation but also happens everywhere.
Here’s to more months full of creativity, collaboration, and culture–the very pulse of JD Institute of Fashion Technology.
