Different Types Of Windows!
Different types of windows have different benefits. It is not necessary that the entire house needs to have only one type of window. It can have four or even five different types of windows as per the requirements of the rooms. Here are the different types of windows and their benefits:
1. Casement Windows
Casement windows are the best options for maximum airflow in the house or room
This is one of the most popular types of window found in contemporary homes and is the best window to boost airflow inside of the house. Since they hang on the hinges they open to the side which allows you to open them in the similar manner as doors, letting the air outside vent inside. This window style is best for laundry rooms, basements, and anything alike. The larger versions of this window will make a great addition to the hallway.
2. Awning Windows
Awning windows are the best choice for bedrooms for maximum sunlight
This window style is very similar to the casement window style but they are mounted with the hinge on the top so they can be pushed out. They are best placed at the back of the house, and need to be carefully placed if the house is located on the side of a traffic road.
3. Double-Hung Windows
Double-Hung windows are best suited for kitchen spaces
One of the classic style windows, that is also a very common one. They are designed as two large slides that move vertically, up and down. Although the modern version of these are designed with springs. Due to their wide availability, they are priced at a reasonable price range. This window style is not recommended around children as they open wide and do not have grills for safety.
4. Single Hung Windows
The single hung window is another window style that is fixated on the top and only the button window sill can be opened and closed. This window style does reduce the airflow, but also saves space as it doesn’t have to be opened inward or outward. Either way, there will be a flow of natural light. However, this window style will not be suited for those who have difficulty pushing up the window.
5. Bay Windows
One of the most popular types of windows is the ‘Bay Window’. The reason for their popularity is because they are the perfect windows for extra seating around the house, or for a mini indoor garden space. They also are a great source of natural light and also create the perfect illusion of space. Bay windows are best placed in living areas, bedrooms or even for reading rooms.
6. Picture Windows
This window style is the perfect addition if you have kids at home. Reason being that they actually don’t open, making them a safe option for apartments or lofts. They are also the perfect choice for high top apartments and lofts as they can add a perfect seating area for a perfect view of the city or the perfect sunset light.
7. Jalousie Windows
This window style is similar to the vetenian blinds. They work best when added to an inner corner or even around the kitchen to have that ventilation and natural light keeping the room bright. They work best if you don’t have an air conditioner at home.
8. Sliding Windows
This window style is the most basic, designed with a really simple construction. Fortunately, the simple construction design makes it the best and most inexpensive addition to the house. Although it doesn’t have any styling feature, if the house design is aiming at a very mid-century vibe, then they would be the best option.
9. Fixed Windows
One of the perfect window styles for a cozy room. Although they do not open, it will still have enough and more sunlight entering the room. The only negative for this window is that there will be no ventilation. But it is a great addition of character to the house.
Different types of windows do not end with this list, there are many more window styles that are available in the market that will give their own type of character the interior of the house.
