Every year on 31st October, people across the globe celebrate the festival of Halloween. This festival is commemorated with different significances and rituals. In the Western Christian culture, Halloween is celebrated as ‘All Hallow’s Day’, where the departed souls of loved ones are remembered for their time on Earth.
However, the tradition of celebrating Halloween originated way back at a time where the Celtic people collected nuts, acorns and some other seeds from different trees and plants as they lost their leaves which was a sign that winter was to begin. During this time as the nights would be longer, there was a scare among the Celtic people and they believed that there were ghosts lurking around. To ward off the evil they would light bonfires and dress up in weird costumes. That age-old tradition was modernized and Halloween is now one of the most awaited times of the year.
JD Institute Of Fashion Technology Goa celebrated Halloween on the 1st of November, Monday. The ever-enthusiastic faculty and always hyper students were dressed up in various avatars and characters.
The institute was blessed with the sight of an array of characters which included – The Scary Joker, The Nun, Black Rabbit, Morticia Addams, Wednesday Adams, a few Corpses, a ghost, witches, ghouls etc. These halloween costumes were all well executed with the help of costumes and make-up.

The Halloween celebrations at the JD Institute of Fashion Technology Goa, was a sight to behold as students and faculties lit the campus with their enthusiasm. Despite having classes on the day, it had no effect on them as classes were conducted for a shorter duration and the day ended with laughs and pictures sessions. The campus witnessed characters and avatars from zombies helping corpses with their gaping wounds to Adams Family feuds. The buzz and excitement encouraged the people who hadn’t planned on any character to at least adorn their faces with some makeup. Some students were also seen following the Halloween custom of “trick or treat” which brought about a lot of fun and cheer to the day.
