What is lateral entry?
Lateral entry is a privilege or honor offered to polytechnic students to join the second year of undergraduate education directly after the completion of a 3 year government polytechnic diploma program corresponding to their field of study. The 3-year government polytechnic diploma course is equivalent to two semesters or the first year of an undergraduate program.
How is it different from a regular undergraduate program?
A student who completes 12th standard enrolls himself for undergraduate education according to his preferences. The student in this case is enrolled in the first year of the course. While this is the normal code of admission into a course, a student under the lateral entry code of admission is directly promoted to the second year of a course based on the certificates he provides corroborating the completion of a 3 year government polytechnic diploma course.
Can everyone apply for lateral entry admissions?
No. Lateral entry admissions do not apply to everyone. Only those students who have completed a 3-year government polytechnic diploma course can apply for lateral entry admissions for an undergraduate program. It should be noted that students often enroll in a diploma program immediately after completing their 10th standard education.
Can polytechnic students from any polytechnic college apply for lateral entry admission?
No. Polytechnic students from government recognized and approved polytechnic colleges can apply for lateral entry admission at JD Institute of Fashion Technology.
Is lateral entry provision available to all undergraduate programs?
