JD Design Awards is a platform where designers of today and tomorrow voice their opinion about the change they want to see in the world. With the theme Sync for the 2022 award show, the design community found an opportunity to focus on various pressing issues across the globe.

Highlighting one such issue was the collection Remember House Sparrow. The designers behind the collection are Anjali T M and Snata Choudhury. Their idea for the collection was to voice the impending extinction of another species because of harmful human activities.

We all have witnessed sparrows when we were kids. The little brown birds were once upon a time an integral part of every household, building nests on trees, in the ventilation space or on the portico of the houses. However, as the human race is expanding its zone, the natural habitat of these perching birds are getting ruined, leading to extinction.

Taking inspiration from the endangered species of the bird, the designer duo curated the collection Remember House Sparrow. The designer duo states, “Sparrow is a small, pretty bird which helps in maintaining the ecological balance. Through this collection, we wanted to evoke the memories of our childhood where sparrows were an integral part of it.”

The Avant Garde collection also received the Special Jury Award from JD Design Awards 2022 for presenting a beautiful concept and making a strong statement.
