Course Overview
As the program progresses, students delve into 3D animation using industry standard software. Here, they gain practical knowledge in the full 3D production pipeline, including basic modeling techniques, UV unwrapping and texturing, applying lighting setups, rigging characters for movement, animating objects and figures, and rendering final outputs as still images or animated sequences. These technical skills are integrated with creative design, encouraging students to think both artistically and logically.
In parallel, students explore the history and evolution of visual effects, developing an understanding of how the industry has transformed through time and how modern technologies have shaped current practices. Foundational knowledge in software camera operations and lighting principles is introduced to help students understand how real-world cinematography influences the realism of VFX.
Building on this foundation, the program introduces digital compositing using Adobe After Effects, teaching students how to combine multiple visual elements into a cohesive scene. They learn essential techniques such as layering, masking, keying, tracking. Additionally, the program focuses on integrating 3D elements into live action footage, a critical skill in professional VFX workflows through 3D for compositing practices using Maya or Blender in combination with compositing tools. Students also learn to apply color correction and grading techniques to match elements seamlessly and enhance visual storytelling.
The program concludes with a final compositing project, where students synthesize all their acquired skills drawing, animation, 3D asset creation, compositing, and visual storytelling into a polished, industry ready VFX shot or short sequence. By the end of the program, students will be capable of understanding and executing the core components of a professional animation and VFX pipeline, preparing them for further specialization or entry level careers in the animation, film, gaming, and digital media industries.
