If you’re on a hunt for something that feels bigger than you, more meaningful than your average necklace, Sahana V’s “Spirituality” jewellery concept, which won the “The Sevenfold Radiance Design Award”, is for you. The emphasis on creating a personalized and authentic experience by finding your own purpose, making a connection, going through transformation, is subjective to you. Unlike the old, hardcore religious observances, this is an experience.
The core of the whole collection is made of MDF wood. No, it’s not silver, nor gold—it’s MDF. Due to its natural appearance and a minimalist sensibility, this is truly remarkable. But, MDF isn’t easy, it’s fragile like cookies. Every attempt to cut it with a laser, just results in dust. And, the laser cutting process produces fumes that just might knock you out if you are not cautious. But, you endure it, for its lightness, pliability and because, inexplicably, it is very effective.
Then there’s the luxury adornments. The metal chains, the shiny silver pieces, and lots of tiny details are hand-painted. Sahana brought in wires to connect it all together and keep it from lacking structure. The gemstones and pearls are carefully selected for what they each represent; clarity, balance and the complete features of enlightenment.
Hunting down a craftsman, a “karigar,” who understood their way around the strange combination of MDF alongside random metals and gems was not quite effortless and accessible. With the added dilemma of sourcing the exact stones and corresponding chains, its completion stands alone as a testament to Sahana’s perseverance.
This isn’t ordinary visual luxury for social media. This has a heart, life of its own. It’s created with intention, each piece picked on purpose. Sahana is inviting you to wear your own little spiritual path. It may just lead you to a deeper sense of self-awareness or simply enhance your outer beauty.
