Diploma in Fashion Design

Its a Spring/summer 2025, Katha Vastra the winner of the heritage revival (jury choice’s award) .This collection offers Seamless blend of breathable luxury and conscious fashion. It pays homage to the women who have kept traditions alive and reimagines their legacy in a language the modern world can wear. It is tightly wrapped around the waist without a blouse to support the lower back, especially while working . Its is a handwoven fabric from Ponduru in Srikakulam District ,Andhra Pradesh . The narrative behind this collection also reflects on cultural neglect.

This collection called ‘Katha Vastra’ draws deep inspiration  from this rich cultural heritage of Srikakulam’s Venakattu draping style and the handwoven Ponduru  village .The design story is the elderly village women whose grace, resilience and tradition form the soul of the collection .It is sculpted for modern elegance. It is made using hand-spun yarn from locally grown short staple cotton. It is celebrated for producing one of India’s finest khadi fabrics.

Blissfully complementing JDDA 2025’s theme – PAUSE, ‘Prioritising a Unique Sense of Ease’, Katha Vastra  looks to the past for inspiration, honouring the historical beauty but taking away its unease. Minimal yet sophisticated ,structed yet unfettered ,so women can move breathe and live in comfort.
