RAILWAY STATION INTERIOR DESIGN by Preksha

K Venkat Pavan & Posam Neelesh - Diploma in Interior Design

Nobody thinks about railway station interiors unless you’re stuck in one. But designer Preksha elevated the concept by reimagining the wild, non-stop world of Indian railways with “Efficiency with Empathy.” Which are not the words that come to mind when we think about railway stations.

Designer Brief

This project goes beyond shoving people from point A to B. It’s a place designed for the people using it—old folks hobbling along, kids running everywhere, half-asleep commuters. The entire setup is comfort and practicality in the same line. Easy-to-read signs, wide corridors, and a navigation flow that avoids making it all seem like a confusing rat race.

This isn’t just about efficiency. It’s a real effort to make you feel human with comfy waiting areas, some thought put into it, with the anti-slip floors, and fresh materials that look as good as new at the end of each bustling day. You’ve got barrier-free walkways, tactile guides for people who need them, and visual hints everywhere, so everyone gets a fair shot at finding their train without the sophisticated mental processing.

Preksha’s thought about what most transit spots miss: speed without losing your sanity. This is a station designed not just to shuttle bodies, but to make people feel seen. Less chaos, more clarity.
