Shadow Born” collection is designed by Sona P, student from MSc in Fashion Design & Management at JD Institute of Fashion Technology, Kochi celebrates an innovative fashion in collection for Spring Summer 2025 is an evocative exploration of strength, transformation, and identity, rooted deeply in the folklore of Malabar.

Drawing powerful inspiration from Odiyan, a legendary supernatural warrior from Kerala who belonged to the historically oppressed Panan and Parayar communities, the collection reimagines resistance and metamorphosis through fashion. Odiyan’s mastery of Odividya—a mythical power to shapeshift into animal forms—symbolizes resilience and rebellion, transforming him into a mythic symbol of defiance and survival.
This collection positions Odiyan as more than a mythological figure; he becomes a metaphor for every individual who rises from adversity. The designs embrace the core idea of transformation, celebrating those who endure hardships yet emerge stronger, never losing their essence. Through symbolic silhouettes, textures, and layering, the garments channel animal spirits that lie within us—echoing mystery, strength, and survival.

“Shadow Born” merges mythology with avant-garde fashion to embody a journey through darkness into empowerment. The collection captures raw emotion and fearless individuality, where garments become armor and storytelling blends with textile art. Earthy tones, shadow play, and structured forms mirror the internal struggles and triumphs of the human spirit.
This season, fashion is not just visual—it becomes a vessel of identity, resistance, and evolution. With each piece, “Shadow Born” invites wearers to connect with their inner strength, embrace transformation, and walk boldly through their own shadows.
