Begin with the Essentials

The course begins where all great stories do—on paper. You’ll learn how to sketch characters, build scenes, and master the 12 Principles of Animation. These principles are timeless and universal: from squash and stretch to anticipation and follow-through, they’re the foundation of expressive movement.

You will be using industry software tools such as Adobe Animate, Photoshop, Toon Boom Harmony, and Storyboard Pro. But most importantly, you’ll learn how to use them in creating engaging visual stories. From quick scenes to character development, your initial projects will have you familiar with timing, rhythm, and emotion on the fly.

Dive Into the World of 3D

The second half of the course introduces you to the amazing world of 3D animation. You’ll discover how to create scenery and characters, add realistic textures, rig skeletal systems to animate them, and lastly, light and render out scenes that come alive.

Applications such as Blender and Maya become your artist’s playground. Hands-on experience is given with sculpting, UV mapping, rigging, and even simple effects work. The aim is not only to learn the tools, but to utilise them to convey ideas in ways impossible to do with words.

By the end of the course, you’ll have created your very own 3D animated short film. It’s not just a student project—it’s your creative signature, proof of your vision, skill, and storytelling ability.
