Course Overview
The program begins with Drawing Fundamentals and the Principles of Animation, where students will develop essential drawing skills needed to create expressive and believable characters and objects. Emphasis is placed on understanding shape, form, perspective, and anatomy, which are critical for producing visually appealing animations. Alongside drawing, learners will explore the 12 fundamental principles of animation, such as squash and stretch, timing, anticipation, and follow-through, which bring movement to life and help convey emotion and storytelling through animated sequences. Practical exercises and projects will give students hands-on experience, allowing them to apply these principles effectively in their work.
Next, the program moves into Introduction to 2D Animation and 3D Animation Software. Here, students will first learn the workflows and techniques used in 2D animation, utilizing popular industry software to create basic animated sequences. This section emphasizes key skills such as frame-by-frame animation, keyframing, and timing adjustments. Following this, learners will be introduced to the fundamentals of 3D animation software, covering the entire pipeline from modeling and texturing to lighting, rigging, animating, and rendering. Students will gain hands-on experience creating simple 3D objects and scenes, learning how to combine technical knowledge with creative skills to produce polished animations. The course also includes basic lighting and camera techniques to enhance visual storytelling in both 2D and 3D projects.
Throughout the weekend sessions, students engage in a balanced mix of theory and practice, with guided tutorials, exercises, and mini-projects designed to reinforce learning and build confidence. By the end of the program, participants will have developed a well-rounded skill set that enables them to create simple 2D and 3D animations, understand the animation process from concept to final output, and prepare for more advanced courses or personal creative projects. This program aims to spark creativity and provide the technical foundation necessary to pursue a career or hobby in animation.
