Course Overview
- The program begins with an engaging look at the History of VFX, where students explore the evolution of visual effects in film and media, gaining insight into how traditional methods have shaped today’s digital techniques. This session sets the stage for understanding the creative and technical foundations of the VFX industry.
- In the following weekends, students dive into software Camera & Lighting Basics, learning how to capture footage suitable for VFX. Topics include camera types, shot composition, lighting techniques, and how on-set decisions impact the post-production process. This foundational knowledge ensures that students can shoot with VFX integration in mind.
- Next, learners are introduced to Compositing Fundamentals using industry standard tools like Adobe After Effects. They’ll learn how to combine multiple elements into a single scene using techniques such as masking, keying (green screen), layering, and basic motion tracking. These hands-on sessions build essential post production skills.
- Once the basics are covered, the course shifts focus to VFX Shot Integration, where students begin inserting 3D or 2D effects into real-world footage. This includes matching lighting, scale, motion, and perspective key to making visual effects believable and seamless.
- The following weekend is dedicated to Color Correction & Grading, teaching students how to adjust tone, color balance, saturation, and contrast to create consistency and mood across their footage. These skills are essential for polishing and enhancing the visual quality of their final shots.
- The program concludes with a Final Compositing Project, where students apply everything they’ve learned to create a complete VFX sequence from planning and footage preparation to final rendering and presentation. This project not only reinforces all course concepts but also serves as a strong addition to a beginner’s portfolio.
- Structured to run over weekends, this program is perfect for working professionals, students, and creatives looking to explore VFX without interrupting their weekday schedules.
