About the Artisan: Classical designer, Philips is referred to by his pseudonym “Kannan” not only at his work place but also by his mother. Kannan started off with his interest in oil paintings and slowly moved into furnishings. His wood carving designs are intricate, depicting the temples of Chettinad. His love for hand carving can be seen in his beautifully detailed and elaborate teakwood and rosewood creations. Though a traditional art, his designs have a contemporary look.
