JD Annual Design Awards 2016 – Untold Stories : “ROYAL PRAYER”
Artist Afzal Miyan Karchobwale hails from a lineage of hand-embroidery artists whose zardosi work have graced the garments of the Nizams of Hyderabad. The artist continues to preserve the expertise of this age old art form and still caters to an upper class clientele. His works are not only used in clothing but home décor products as well. The collection “ROYAL PRAYER” takes its inspiration from the golden zardosi embroidery that the artist is famous for. The evening wear collection designed for the American and European expats in the Middle East is made of black and champagne gold dyed blended silk fabrics detailed with gold glazed silver zardosi inspired by the Sheikh Zayd Mosque in Abu Dhabi. The collection is presented by Arpitha, Ashnit, Divya and Simran of May Diploma batch.
