JD Annual Design Awards 2016 – Untold Stories : ‘ZINGARA’
A collection inspired by Bohemian-gypsy, ‘ZINGARA’ lets you breathe and feel the freedom. The designer and artist Marissa Miranda whose products are not just hand-made,but are an amalgamation of century-old crafts and modern design aesthetics. The collection is a combination of up-cycling of metals like soda and beer cans and traditional embroidery. The metal/cans are cut into different shapes and in different sizes, secured by colourful threads into beautiful patterns. Short, mid-thigh length silhouettes, dresses, rompers, shorts, shrugs and jackets covered in attractive embroidery and colorful tassels are some elements of this collection which is designed for the New York fashionistas. The collection is presented by Komal Samdariya of B.Sc batch.
