MET Gala or MET ball is an annual event to raise funds for the benefit of Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in New York.  A star-studded celebration of sorts, every year the opening of the Costume Institute’s fashion exhibit is attended by actors and actresses, socialites, fashion designers, etc. The exclusivity of this event lies in the idea of thematic exhibits. The themed exhibition sets the mood for this glamorous event as the guests assemble in their ensemble complementing the theme.

Hence the inspiration behind the collection was to design futuristic and textured garments. The aim was to design garments using a technique that is still at its nascent stage. Hence the team zeroed in upon fabric manipulation. Fabric manipulation is a technique of creating shapes and patterns out of fabrics. This often makes the fabric more 3D-like and not flat.

Titled “Buried in Fashion”, the collection evokes a question - “What should we wear when we die?” Every day we take time to dress and present ourselves in the best way according to our taste and style. But when we pass on, we are simply wrapped in a plain cloth and buried.

India is a place of many cultures and when you get to see them play on one ramp in one week, it’s a treat for the eyes. Lakme Fashion Week had everything, from the playful candy color saga to prints that you would love to own, from sarees given a raw twist to colours like nudes and silvers being majorly adopted. Let’s look at some of the trends we spotted at LFW:
