The Noise- Sync- JD Design Awards 2022- Interior Design

In today’s time, city dwellers face a major problem, lack of peace. And the major contribution to this diabolic issue is constant noise. Hence in JD Design Awards 2022, interior designer Akash K K aimed to find a solution to it in a sustainable way.

The designer noticed the coconut coir is leading to a waste problem while it can be utilised and contribute to the profit of the farmers. His idea was to efficiently use the coconut coir and reduce the burden on the environment. Hence, striking two problems in a go, the designer-mind came up with a solution. He used coconut coir for soundproofing, thermal insulation and eventually leading to reduction of waste generation.

For his JD Design Awards 2022  project, Akash took Nagarjuna meadows phase II in consideration. It is an apartment located in Yelahanka, Bangalore which is situated in very noisy surroundings. “I came up with the idea of sound insulation, acoustics, and thermal comfort within the space. By keeping the sustainability factor in mind I added coir as a soundproofing material at my space and for thermal insulation as well with the help of minimalistic design.”, said Akash KK.

Going ahead on his concept line, the designer also prepared a model of his design, giving a hint of what the urban future is going to look like. Akash’s design solution, The Noise, also received the Best Thesis of the Year award along with accolades from industry experts. The Noise- Sync- JD Design Awards 2022- Interior Design
