JD Institute August Highlights: August was an action-packed month across our campus, filled with creative project showcases, practical industry learning, and cultural celebrations. From detailed craftsmanship to interactive workshops and welcoming new academic batches, here is a look back at the top moments that made up our August at JD Institute.

Sparkling Craftsmanship: Fine Jewellery Design Display

The students of the Diploma in Fine Jewellery Design, 2025 Batch presented their batch-end project display. Students showcased intricate renderings, hand-crafted jewelry pieces, and complete design portfolios.

Enrolling in a specialized jewellery design course allows students to turn raw creative ideas into wearable art. This display highlighted their deep understanding of precious metals, gemstone settings, and modern aesthetics, proving how comprehensive training in Jewellery Designing prepares aspiring designers for the fine jewelry market.

The Living Thread: Fashion & Apparel Design Project Showcase

The BSc in Fashion and Apparel Design, 2024 Batch, held their 4th semester project display themed “The Living Thread” in the Draping Lab.

• Craft Inspiration: Students selected traditional Indian arts and crafts, transforming their motifs, visual language, and cultural essence into modern, functional garments.
• Design Process: Displays tracked the complete creative journey—from research boards and silhouette generation to rendered sketches, final garments, and outcomes from their Textile Dyeing and Printing module.

Pursuing a degree in fashion and apparel design gives learners the platform to blend heritage techniques with modern trends. This project highlighted how hands-on experimentation in a fashion design course helps students master every step of creative garment construction.

Real-World Insights: Interior Design Industry Sessions & Workshops

The Department of Interior Design hosted engaging sessions to bridge classroom learning with industry execution:

• “Interior Design Beyond Pinterest” Guest Lecture: Led by Bespoke Havens, this session offered a realistic look at client management, material selection, site coordination, and real-world execution.

• 3D Rendering Workshop with D5 Software: The D5 team conducted an interactive workshop on generating photorealistic renders, helping students master modern spatial visualization tools.

• ALANKARAM Store Visit: Students of the Interior Design 2024 Batch visited ALANKARAM in Bangalore for their Textiles and Accessories module, gaining exposure to fabric qualities, spatial styling, and accessory coordination.

Succeeding in Interior Designing requires a balance of creative vision, client communication, and technical skill. Joining a practical interior design course at JD Institute of Fashion Technology helps students gain hands-on experience with real-world projects, material sourcing, and cutting-edge software.

Hands-On Learning: Central Silk Board Visit

The students of  B.Des in Fashion Design – 2025 Batch – 3rd Semester visited the Central Silk Board, Bangalore (Central Silk Technological Research Institute – CSTRI) in Madivala.

As part of their academic curriculum, students explored every stage of silk production—including silk reeling, yarn processing, weaving on different loom types, wet processing treatments, and product development. Understanding raw material processing through practical study in textile science is fundamental for anyone looking to build a career in Fashion Designing.

New Beginnings: August 2026 Orientation Days

We were thrilled to welcome our incoming cohorts across multiple postgraduate, master’s, and diploma tracks:

• Orientation Session: Orientation sessions took place for incoming postgraduate students across MBA in Fashion Business and Event Management, MA in Fashion Communication, M.Des in Fashion Design, MA in UI/UX, and MSc in Fashion Design and Management. Orientation sessions also welcomed new Diploma cohorts in Fashion Design, Fashion Business Management, Interior Design, and Fine Jewellery Design.

Vibrant Culture: Onam Celebration 2026

The campus buzzed with festive energy as students and faculty gathered for a memorable Onam celebration. Dressed in traditional Kasavu sarees, Set Mundus, and Kurtas, Jediiians enjoyed music, traditional dance performances, and a festive fashion show that highlighted community spirit and cultural pride.
