JD Institute of Fashion Technology and Radio City Kannada Lead the Cause of Sustainability through Environment Day Roadshow in Bengaluru
With a view to spread environmental awareness among people and to instilling values of sustainable living in them, JD Institute of Fashion Technology and Radio City Kannada jointly organised a special Environment Day Road Show in MG Road, Bengaluru, on 5th June, 2026. The event was based on the theme “Keep Bengaluru Clean. Keep Bengaluru Green”.
The occasion had a special display of ten pieces of clothing made out of waste materials. Created and crafted by the students of JD Institute, the presentation showcased how creativity could turn waste into useful design innovations. By organising the exhibition, the students managed to showcase the possibilities that upcycling offers while at the same time inspiring the city dwellers to think differently about their waste and consumption patterns.

Organised on one of the busiest streets of Bangalore, the road show was indeed successful in grabbing the attention of the local people. The pieces of clothing were used as an example to demonstrate the ways of designing that would help people see what a waste material could become when used in a proper way.
As an institution committed to fostering innovation, creativity, and social responsibility, JD Institute continues to encourage students to engage with real-world challenges through design-led solutions. The Environment Day Road Show provided an opportunity for students to apply their skills beyond the classroom while contributing to a larger social cause. By bringing sustainability into a public setting, the event reinforced the role of design as a powerful tool for education, awareness, and positive change.
The successful execution of the project was made possible through the dedicated efforts of students Neharika H, Manasi Mane, Tanushree Ananth Hegde, A Jansi, Ayush Patra, Elysia Elvira Pereira, Ishleen Kaur Gulati, Muhammed Shahajas KK, Mukesh R, P Pravin, Prakalya M, Shruthika S, Siddharth Nair, Varshitha S, Vignesha S, Vinutha U, Yesha, and Sakshi Agarwal. These students were mentored by faculty members Vivek Ravunniarath, Thanusrree PS, Pooja Navalgund, Kavya P, R Karthikeyan, Shilpa Karadi, Kalpana Divyarajan, Nikita Sharma, and Gopika G, and their guidance and expertise have been critical to the success of the project.
Through initiatives such as this, JD Institute reaffirms its commitment to promoting sustainable practices and nurturing responsible design professionals. The Environment Day Road Show stands as a reminder that collective action, informed choices, and creative thinking can contribute significantly towards building a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable Bengaluru for future generations.Â
