August 2026 at JD School of Design, Goa: Where Creativity Meets Experience
Threads, textures, design thinking and unforgettable achievements — August was a month of creativity, learning, industry exposure and celebration at JD School of Design, powered by JD Institute of Fashion Technology, Goa.
August at JD School of Design, powered by JD Institute of Fashion Technology, Goa, was a vibrant celebration of creativity, craftsmanship, innovation and student achievements. From hands-on workshops and design exploration to industry exposure, sporting excellence and cultural celebrations, the month offered students opportunities to learn beyond the classroom and express themselves through diverse creative mediums.
Threads, Textures & Imagination: Puppet Making Workshop
Creativity took shape through threads, textures and a little imagination during our engaging Puppet Making Workshop.
Led by renowned artists Sonia Rodrigues Sabarwal and Khushboo Biswal, the hands-on session introduced students to the fascinating art of puppet making. Students explored different stages of the process, including fabric stitching, stuffing and creative detailing, while experimenting with their own ideas and expressions.
The workshop encouraged students to embrace craftsmanship, explore new techniques and bring their imagination to life — one stitch at a time.
Where Scraps Become Art: Upcycling Through Patchwork
Turning discarded fabric into wearable stories, our students explored the creative possibilities of upcycling through patchwork and hand stitching.
The workshop encouraged students to source scrap fabrics and transform simple shirts and T-shirts into distinctive wearable artworks. From faces and abstract forms to interesting textures and personal expressions, every creation reflected an individual creative voice.
Through this hands-on experience, students discovered how sustainability and design can come together to transform everyday scraps into meaningful art.

From Ideas to Prototypes: Design Thinking Workshop
Design is not just about aesthetics — it is also about understanding people, solving problems and creating meaningful experiences.
During the Design Thinking Workshop, Diploma in Interior Design students explored the complete journey from ideas to prototypes. They studied user needs, developed concepts, experimented with materials and techniques, and translated their ideas into tangible design solutions for interior spaces.
The workshop strengthened their approach to creative problem-solving while encouraging them to think practically, experiment fearlessly and design with purpose.

A Golden Achievement in Taekwondo
We are delighted to celebrate the sporting achievement of Ms. Aahana Pramod Amonkar, B.Sc. Interior Design, First Year, who won the Gold Medal in Women’s Taekwondo under the 49 kg weight category at the Goa University Intercollegiate Sports Championship 2026–27, held at the SAG Multipurpose Hall, Peddem.
Her achievement is a testament to her dedication, discipline and determination.
We are equally proud of Ms. Sirjana Thapa, who participated in the Women’s Taekwondo under the 46 kg weight category, representing our college with commendable spirit and determination.
At JD School of Design, we believe that student success extends beyond academics, and achievements like these inspire our entire community.

Stepping Out of the Classroom: Industry Exposure at Bent Chair Goa
On August 25, our Interior Design students from the ID 2025 batch stepped beyond the classroom for an immersive industry exposure visit to Bent Chair, Assagao.
The visit offered students an insightful look into the world of contemporary furniture design and manufacturing. The team at Bent Chair shared valuable perspectives on manufacturing nuances, design processes and the diverse career opportunities emerging within the design industry.
Industry visits like these help students connect classroom concepts with real-world practices, giving them a deeper understanding of how design evolves from an idea into a finished product.

Onam 2026: Celebrating Tradition Through Creativity
August concluded on a colourful and festive note with our Onam 2026 celebrations.
Bringing together tradition, creativity and the spirit of togetherness, students participated in class-wise Pookalam making, Mehendi and traditional attire.
The celebrations created a wonderful opportunity for students to express their creativity while embracing the rich cultural traditions associated with Onam. From vibrant floral patterns to traditional looks, the campus was filled with colour, enthusiasm and festive energy.
