JD Design Awards 2026: Where Heritage Meets Innovation

On 8 June 2026, JD School of Design powered by JD Institute of Fashion Technology, Goa, proudly presented the JD Design Awards 2026 at Panjim Gymkhana, Panaji, Goa.

The event showcased the remarkable work of graduating students from the Fashion Design and Interior Design programmes. Inspired by the theme “Artisan 2.0” the collections celebrated India’s rich craft traditions while presenting innovative design solutions for the modern world.

Every project reflected months of research, craftsmanship, creativity, and collaboration, making the event a true celebration of emerging design talent.

Freshers’ Party: Celebrating New Beginnings

The campus welcomed its newest creative minds with an energetic Freshers’ Party that perfectly captured the vibrant spirit of JD School of Design.

Filled with music, laughter, fashion, self-expression, and unforgettable memories, the celebration encouraged students to embrace their individuality while building friendships and becoming part of the institution’s creative community.

Honoured for Advancing Design Education

In a proud moment for the institution, Founder of JD School of Design and Managing Trustee of JD Educational Trust, Mr. Nealesh Dalal, was felicitated for the institution’s invaluable contribution to the Indiaskills Competition during the World Youth Skills Day celebration held at Kala Academy, Panaji.

The honour was presented by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Goa, Pramod Sawant, in the presence of Shri Prasad Lolayekar, Secretary, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, along with other distinguished dignitaries.

This recognition reflects the institution’s continued dedication to advancing design education through innovation, industry-focused learning, and skill development while preparing students for the evolving creative economy.

Exploring Art Beyond the Classroom

As part of the Fundamentals of Design curriculum, first-year Fashion Design and Interior Design students visited Sunaparanta Goa Centre for the Arts for an enriching educational experience.

Students explored contemporary exhibitions, interacted with artists, and discovered diverse artistic perspectives that encouraged observation, critical thinking, and creative interpretation. The visit reinforced the importance of experiential learning in shaping thoughtful and innovative designers.

Puppet Making Workshop: Creativity in Every Stitch

Creativity came alive during an engaging Puppet Making Workshop conducted by renowned artists Sonia Rodrigues Sabharwal and Khushboo Biswal.

Working with fabrics, textures, stitching techniques, and imaginative storytelling, students explored the traditional art of puppet making through a hands-on learning experience. The workshop encouraged experimentation, craftsmanship, collaboration, and artistic expression, allowing students to transform simple materials into unique creative characters.
