Interior Design Students make the most of the Industrial Visit | Nitco Ltd and PC Mallappa co.

Field trips and store visits give students practical learning experience away from their regular classroom activities. The students of JD Institute of Fashion Technology are exposed to various industrial visits to broaden their horizon towards practically oriented curriculum. As a part of their module, the Diploma in Interior Design students visited Nitco and P.C Mallappa to have a hand on experience in terms of material application and space designs.

Nitco Ltd is the premium tile manufacture company in India. The company manufactures an endless variety of world-class tiles for low traffic, medium traffic and high traffic areas. Having a vast portfolio of tiles, marbles, mosaic and metal craft, the company is known for their quality and design of products. Whereas PC Mallappa co. is a brand that is that is synonyms with high-end bath ware, fixtures and wellness products. Witnessing each brand individually, our interior design course students got to know the importance of selection of materials and its application in each design.

When designing interior spaces, there are myriad of factors to consider including materials, function and mood of the entire space. Textures play an important role in creating a perfect mood for space. Thus being an interior designer, it is necessary to have an expertise in all. Considering these aspects the interior design programme students were encouraged to compare materials and finishes of each place. They also discussed alternative material application and space designs to have a better understanding and depth.

With the help of this visit, students received an extensive knowledge regarding the elements and principles of designs, implementation of materials and also the effects of lighting used in each place. They are also eligible to compare the look and feel of each design space as well. As one of the top interior design institute in Bangalore, it is our aim to provide students with first-hand information regarding the functioning of the industry and prepare them accordingly.
