The orientation program is a crucial step towards creating a foundation for any course. A good orientation prepares the students for the syllabus that awaits them, the opportunities and challenges they can expect and finally, the outcome of the course they opt for. As a part of the Orientation for the Batch of Interior Design, a workshop was conducted. The students were enlightened about the concept of frame structures for products and interiors. They were asked to visualize a stable structure and build it using matchstick. It was a time-based workshop where the visualization and execution was time bound to 3 hours. This way the students understood the basic concept of weight distribution using framed structures. This exercise was also an icebreaker for student interaction as they worked in groups.
