PRODUCTIVE INITIATIVES ON WORLD CANCER DAY 2020
JD Institute of Fashion Technology, Cochin was part of the World Cancer Day event conducted by General Hospital, Ernakulam on the 4th of February 2020. The event was inaugurated by the famous play back singer Afsal.
The program started with a general class about Cancer awareness and preventive measures. It was a brief event with some cultural activities to entertain the survivors. Ms. Anarkali Marikar, a student of JD Cochin, also enthralled the attendees with a beautiful melody, whereas other students entertained the gathering with their on the spot performances.
As part of the day, students created some handmade products like a range of coffee painting, handmade packaging ideas and paper origami jewellery for the patients. The students also conducted a short demonstration session of the products as a pathway that could be adopted by the survivors for sustained livelihood opportunities.
The platform also provided the students with a chance to visit the patients ward which empathise with the cancer patients as they were given a special opportunity to visit the patients ward. They spent some time with them understanding their feelings and trying to cheer them up with the beautiful products they had made for them.
