The Spring summer 2015 collection takes its inspiration from cherry blossom. Known as “Sakura” in Japanese, the Cherry blossom trees are common in Japan and are an integral part of native Japanese culture. The garments beautifully depict the shapes of cherry blossom flowers and structures of cherry blossom trees. The designer has painted the prints herself on different fabrics like taffeta organza and Chinese silk to create a range of contemporary pieces such as jackets, dresses, skirts, trousers.
Starting in late summer, many species of deciduous plants, including trees and shrubs, turn brilliant colours and shed their leaves. Titled, ‘The Autumn Leaf’, the collection draws its inspiration from the beauty of this natural occurrence and the same is captured in the garments through interplay of texture, colours and shapes.

India is a place of many cultures and when you get to see them play on one ramp in one week, it’s a treat for the eyes. Lakme Fashion Week had everything, from the playful candy color saga to prints that you would love to own, from sarees given a raw twist to colours like nudes and silvers being majorly adopted. Let’s look at some of the trends we spotted at LFW:
