The World Health Day is celebrated on April 7th of every year to create awareness of a specific health theme to highlight a priority area of concern for the World Health Organization. To mark the relevance of the day, faculties of JD Institute of Fashion Technology, Cochin conducted a blood pumping workout session to create awareness on importance of physical activities and overall health in day to day life.
The first World Health Assembly was formed in the year 1948 which called for the creation of World Health Day. On April 7th 1950 marked the celebration, and thereon the day is observed every year across the globe. WHO (World Health Organization) believes that health is the focus for human happiness and well-being, thereby making contribution to economic progress, as healthy population live longer and are more productive. Different activities like health conferences, presentations on awareness for raising health issues and solutions, celebrity endorsements to highlight the importance of health, distribute information from health departments, speech on healthy living and healthy diets, workout sessions, mental well-being activities are conducted all over the world on this day.
In JD institute of fashion technology, cochin the celebration started off with addressing students on significance of world health day and theme for the year 2021. Awareness on Importance of participation in regular physical activity during this pandemic, to boost the immune system was discussed. Including physical activity in our lifestyle can be an effective treatment for the rising depression/anxiety, can bring short and long-term benefits for mood, sleep, and physical health. Physical Activities started with a 8-10 min warm up session led by Mrs. Sonima, followed by Bollywood Zumba for 20 min, led by Mrs. Manju Mohan and Mrs. Thanusree. The session ended with stretch exercises for 10 min, led by Ms Sakeena. Later Students discussed about the healthy practices that they follow in their daily lifestyle.
On World Health Day students were advised to practice regular exercises and make it a permanent part of their daily routine.
