September at JD School of Design Goa: Where Tradition Meets Creative Exploration
JD School of Design, powered by JD Institute of Fashion Technology, Goa, turned September into a vibrant celebration of art, design, culture, and hands-on learning. From outdoor sketching and stained glass exploration to folk art, festive celebrations and creative denim work, our students stepped beyond the classroom to observe, experiment, create and express.
Sketching Beyond the Classroom
Students of Fashion 2025 and Fashion 2026 stepped outdoors at Kala Academy, Goa, for a hands-on sketching experience. The afternoon was all about observation, exploration, and capturing the world as it unfolded. Students transformed real-life moments, surroundings and everyday details into expressive sketches, strengthening their ability to observe and translate inspiration into art.

Light and Colour Reimagined Through Design
Tradition, light and colour came together in an engaging Stained Glass Windows Workshop with our first-year Fashion Art & Design (FAD) and Interior Design 2026 students.Over two days, students explored the history, techniques and visual language of stained glass. Using OHP sheets and glass colours, they experimented with colour, composition and patterns while creating their own window-inspired designs.
The workshop became an engaging blend of learning and making, encouraging students to explore traditional techniques through a contemporary lens. Their creations were displayed for faculty and fellow students, bringing together a vibrant collection of colours, patterns and individual interpretations.

Celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi Through Creativity and Togetherness
Festivity came alive at JD School of Design as students came together to celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi with creativity, tradition and togetherness. From making delicious modaks and colourful torans to participating in the Aarti, every activity reflected the joy of coming together as a community. It was a celebration filled with warmth, creativity and festive spirit.

From Folk Art to New Interpretations
The rich cultural heritage of Goa became a source of inspiration for students of FAD 2026 and Interior Design 2026 as they explored the region’s diverse folk arts.Through research, motif-making and creative interpretation, students studied traditional references and transformed them into contemporary visual expressions. The resulting display showcased their individual approaches to Goa’s indigenous art and cultural heritage. The project was a celebration of research, creativity and the continued relevance of traditional art in contemporary design.

Art in Every Patch
Creativity found a new canvas in denim as our Foundation Art students explored the fundamentals of art through denim patches. Beginning with the study of basic artistic principles, students translated their learning into original patchwork creations. Their work reflected experimentation, imagination, and individual expression, demonstrating how everyday materials can become a medium for creative storytelling.
The completed works were displayed as part of the module, turning simple denim patches into expressive pieces of art.

At JD School of Design, learning extends beyond textbooks and classrooms. September brought together observation, experimentation, cultural exploration, craftsmanship, and self-expression, giving students opportunities to engage with design through real experiences.
Whether sketching outdoors, experimenting with stained glass, exploring Goa’s folk traditions, celebrating a festival together, or transforming denim into art, every experience encouraged students to look at the world differently—and find new ways to express what they see. At JD School of Design, every experience is an opportunity to observe, create, and design.
