Orientation Day 2026 – A Gateway to Creative Excellence:
Every new beginning holds the promise of endless possibility—and Orientation Day 2026 marked an inspiring start for our newest batch of aspiring designers. The event welcomed students into a vibrant creative community, introducing them to faculty, mentors, and the exciting academic journey that lies ahead.

Through thought-provoking addresses, interactive activities, and meaningful conversations, students connected with peers, gained valuable insights into design education, and experienced firsthand the collaborative spirit that defines our campus culture.

More than just an introduction, Orientation Day was a celebration of fresh ideas, new friendships, and the first step toward building successful careers in the world of design.
Fevicryl Clay Making Workshop:
The Fevicryl Clay Making Workshop gave students an opportunity to explore the art of creating personalized clay badges using Fevicryl Mouldit Clay. Guided through the basics of clay modelling, they learned techniques such as rolling, shaping, coiling, and adding intricate details to transform simple clay into unique wearable creations.
From playful patterns and abstract designs to floral motifs and creative textures, every badge reflected the students’ imagination and personal style. The activity encouraged experimentation with form and design while enhancing fine motor skills, attention to detail, and creative confidence.

More than just a craft session, the workshop showcased how everyday materials can be transformed into meaningful, handcrafted accessories. As students proudly displayed their custom-designed clay badges, the session celebrated originality, self-expression, and the joy of creating something truly their own.
Stress Management & Mental Health Awareness Talk:
As part of the Foundation Workshop, students attended an engaging talk on stress management and mental health awareness to kick off their creative journey on a positive note.

The session covered practical ways to manage stress, build resilience, and balance academic life with personal well-being — from healthy coping mechanisms to the importance of self-care, open communication, and seeking support when needed.

Through relatable discussions and real-life examples, students were reminded that asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness, and that a strong support system can make all the difference during their academic journey.
POCSO & Menstrual Health Awareness Talk:
As part of the Foundation Workshop, students attended an informative POCSO & Menstrual Health Awareness Talk aimed at fostering a safe, respectful, and health-conscious learning environment.

The session introduced students to the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, helping them understand their rights, personal safety, the importance of consent, and the mechanisms available for reporting inappropriate behaviour.
The talk also focused on menstrual health awareness, addressing common myths, promoting menstrual hygiene, and encouraging open conversations around reproductive health. Students gained valuable insights into maintaining physical well-being, understanding menstrual health, and breaking the stigma associated with the topic.

Pottery Workshop:
The Pottery Workshop offered students a [unique opportunity to experience one of the oldest and most expressive forms of craftsmanship. Under the guidance of a skilled potter, students were introduced to the fundamentals of working with clay on the potter’s wheel, witnessing how a simple lump of clay could be transformed into beautiful, functional forms.

The live demonstration showcased essential techniques such as centering, shaping, and molding clay, giving students valuable insight into the precision, patience, and creativity involved in the pottery-making process. Many students also had the chance to try the wheel themselves, making the experience both engaging and memorable.

Through interactive discussions and practical guidance, the session empowered students with essential knowledge to make informed decisions, prioritize their well-being, and contribute to a safe and inclusive campus environment.
Learning from a True Custodian of India’s Handloom Heritage:

Design education comes alive when tradition meets experience. Our students had the wonderful opportunity to attend an insightful Handloom Talk Session by Ms. Parvathy Garu, who shared her deep knowledge of India’s rich handloom legacy and the stories woven into every textile.

Through real-life experiences and thought-provoking discussions, students gained a deeper appreciation for the artistry, sustainability, and timeless value of handloom.

Geometric Origami Workshop:
Inspired by the beauty of geometric forms and patterns, our students explored how basic shapes can be transformed into captivating works of art. Beginning with hand-drawn geometric patterns, they experimented with repetition, symmetry, colour, and composition to develop unique visual concepts.

Using their sketches as inspiration, students crafted creative paper-based artworks that showcased their understanding of geometric design principles while expressing their own artistic style. The workshop encouraged observation, precision, and innovation, demonstrating how simple geometric elements can evolve into striking design outcomes.
