Quarantine workspace

During this lockdown period, whether we like it or not, we are restricted to staying within our homes. While most of us are working from home, the space in which we work is quite important in the way we perform. The longer we spend time at home, the more it gets monotonous. Thus, Re-decor is the best way to break this chain and elevate your mood. Lockdown has redefined how a home is not just a place where you come back to at the end of the day; in fact, it can be your only space in the world. Our Jediiians have re-discovered their Home spaces in their own defined manner, making the best of their artistic talent.

Hassled through this pandemic we sure have earned a lot of time for ourselves to re-discover and channelize our early energy in the right place at things that matter the most. Everything about how we feel and behave is from the energy we receive. Where we place our furniture and accessories determines the feel and function of the room. Keeping this in mind, JD Institute of Fashion Technology, Department of Interior Design, assigned the students with an activity to Re-decor their homes in the most creative way possible.

The quirky ideas by our students gave us so many perspectives and possibilities to Design and Decoration at home. One aspect that looked most common in all their concepts and ideas was ‘Comfort’. To ensure we get our best out, our homes must always be the ultimate definition of comfort. Thus the students have creatively played around it with interesting decorative ideas.

Balcony Decor
Home Decor

The before and after pictures were quite an appealing look as the students had made an unbelievable transformation of the limited spaces at their homes. Some of them decorated their balconies into a comfortable ‘Quarantine Workspace’. Simple ‘at home’ elements such as cute round pillows, a comfy rug, some flowers in a vase to elevate the mood, and other important workspace essentials such as a small table, clock, reference books, laptop, water bottle, coffee mug, etc. Some have also added a lot of greenery around with pots, which sure reflects a lot of positive energy. What grabbed our attention was the eye for detail given while decorating. It surely makes a large difference and every element has a role to play.

Keeping it minimalistic, some students have made their space around their homes, in verandas, which gives them the benefit of fresh breeze which enhances your zest to work. Using fabrics such as colourful sarees or bedspreads, cute pouches, and making it their own, every Re-decor had a vibe of its own but sure was personal. Apart from the rugs and pillows, the students also made use of fairy lights and some even painted their walls with interesting designs.

Outdoor space decor

This Re-decor activity made us realize how innovative the students have gotten during the lockdown. Surely, the Jediiians know how to value and utilize the gift of time. With newfangled discoveries and innovations, their artistic flair has always been high up there, gushing to channel it in the best way possible. The students sure were successful at making this lockdown a comfortable memory by ingeniously re-decorating and re-discovering every corner of their house to turn into something aesthetically so blissful, thus making work from home a pleasant feeling.

Meanwhile, Harshini P, student of PG Diploma in Interior and Spatial Design has been recognized as the most creative re-decor idea. She has stood out with her exemplary creativity and elegant decor.
