Makeup Artistry Course Students Get Creative with Kryolan
When it comes to Halloween costumes, nobody wants to be stuck with an old white bed sheet, cutting two holes in it and calling yourself a ghost. Instead, why not let your creativity and imagination fly. We at JD Institute of Fashion Technology believe in conducting extra curriculum activities and exposure for our students from key industrial Brands. A special effect makeup demo session was held for our current Diploma in Makeup Artistry students and our Alumni from a well-known makeup brand – Kryolan.
Kryolan, a Berlin-based brand which is known for their cutting-edge products and technology. The Company is the only makeup place that views makeup as a science and is the global production of professional makeup for film, TV and theatre. We had Miss Shiny, a professional trainee from Kryolan who acknowledged our students about special effects and prosthetic makeup application techniques.
The session began with some informative talk regarding the effect, why is it used? What is it used for? and its pros and cons for our students to know in depth about the art. Apart from fashion, Beauty and glamorous makeups, they also got a hands-on exposure on prosthetics makeup too to broaden their career horizon. Before starting the demo, they were given a brief knowledge of various types of skin types, body colour illustration palette and products to be used for the following makeup.
An exciting and interactive ambience was created in the classroom as students could see wonders happening in front of them. They got the chance to see how real such effects looks like when done for a film or a theatrical activity. The sessions became more energetic as our students came to know the facts of the brands and usage of such makeup effects. Knowing that kryolan did makeup for Voldemort (Villain in Harry Potter movies), inspired them of having career opportunities in Makeup artistry by being a special effect makeup artist. The talk concluded with few tips given by Miss shiny, for the students who are looking for career opportunities in special makeup and glanced through the skills and dedication needed in order to succeed in this art form.
