The Art of Window Displays at JD Institute
In today’s world visual merchandising plays a major role in keeping the brand’s image well in the eyes of the consumer. In which window displays are the one that quickly grabs one’s attention and compels the customer to enter a store.
Recently, Students of Visual Merchandising Course at JD Institute of Fashion Technology exhibited miniature window displays as part of their module. The idea behind this project was to give students a practical knowledge of store layout, brand image, elements of visual communication, and also strategies of the retail market.
These displays showcased diversity in terms of various categories such as apparel, women’s athletic shoes, and denim. After a thorough research and consecutive store visit, the students used their vivid imagination to infuse props for the chosen brand and later converted it into a window display for that particular brand.
Creativity dwelled from one corner to another. They came up with different ideas and executed displays for the brands like Global Desi by Sakshi, Nike Airmax focusing on women’s athletic shoes by Nivritha and Levis by Wilna. The overall exhibition was a successful approach for them to learn the art of creating, developing and executing merchandise based on a particular brand image.
All the attendees appreciated the hard work put in by the students. Mr. Nealesh Dalal (Managing Trustee), Mr. Promod Adhikari (Mentor at JD Institute) were also a part of the exhibition to appreciate their creativity and ideas.
