June 2026 Round-Up: Spotlight on B.Des 3D Artistry

Design Exhibition Showcases Semester II Achievements

Our B.Des 2025 students recently hosted a display celebrating the creative accomplishments of Semester II students. The showcase presented their exploration of core design fundamentals—Gestalt principles, colour theory, composition, and trend forecasting—marking a significant milestone in their design education.

The opening section presented analyses of foundational concepts through organised grid charts, contrast studies, and mood boards. These pieces demonstrated how students decoded design principles, translating theory into a practical understanding of structure and commercial application.

One of the most engaging sections explored how visual expression extends beyond two dimensions. Students experimented with texture and mixed media, incorporating unexpected materials…

Natural objects, everyday items, resin, beads, and glitter—to create tactile, multi-sensory experiences. This hands-on exploration proved that effective design engages multiple senses and challenges conventional approaches.

The final section featured three-dimensional installations and architectural pieces demonstrating a command of space, silhouette, and structure. Works ranged from minimalist paper folding and geometric sculptures to intricate fashion draping displays and custom sculptural elements, showcasing advanced technical skills and spatial reasoning.

  1. Visualisation and Representation Module Display

The Visualisation and Representation Module Display showcases foundational mastery, technical precision, and creative excellence from our B.Des 2025 students, capturing the critical transition from technical drawing to advanced conceptual execution.

Through human figure illustration, students engaged in dynamic anatomy studies and gesture drawings that capture movement, proportion, and organic expression. Similarly, the Spatial Design projects explored how environments shape human experience through spatial relationships, composition, and material texture.

The Geometry Module Display:

Geometry serves as a foundational language for designers across disciplines. Our Geometry Module at the JD Institute of Design moves beyond theoretical mathematics to demonstrate its direct application in professional design practice. Students explored how principles of lines, shapes, patterns, and spatial transformation inform architectural analysis, precision drafting, and product design. By examining the geometric frameworks underlying historic monuments and contemporary structures, students developed a deeper understanding of how mathematical principles translate into intentional, functional design.

The module’s practical component allowed students to apply geometric concepts across real-world design challenges.

Through technical drawing exercises, students refined their ability to communicate design intent with precision and accuracy—a critical competency in professional practice. Additionally, jewellery and accessory design projects demonstrated how geometric principles of proportion and symmetry elevate form and create refined aesthetic outcomes. This integrated approach ensured that students emerged with both the analytical foundation and practical skills necessary to leverage geometry as a strategic design tool throughout their careers.

Traffic Rules & Road Safety Awareness Program:

On 24-06-2026, an awareness programme on traffic rules and road safety was conducted for the students and staff, under the supervision of Begumpet TTI Inspector Mr Nagula Ashok and his team.

The programme was attended by Mr Laxman, ACP (Traffic Administration), who emphasised the importance of staying alert while driving and avoiding negligent driving under all circumstances. He explained that defensive driving is a proactive and safe driving approach that helps prevent accidents by anticipating potential hazards and remaining vigilant. He also highlighted the importance of following traffic rules to ensure not only one’s own safety but also the safety of other road users.

Speaking about the Golden Hour, ACP Laxman explained that the first 60 minutes after a road accident are critical; immediate medical attention during this period significantly increases the chances of saving lives and reducing the severity of injuries. Begumpet TTI Inspector Mr Nagula Ashok delivered a PowerPoint presentation on traffic rules and road safety, educating the participants on essential safety practices.

He also informed the audience about the Government of India’s “Rah-Veer (Good Samaritan) Scheme”, under which individuals who assist road accident victims during the Golden Hour are awarded ₹25,000 in cash along with a certificate of appreciation. The programme concluded with active participation from Director Mr P. Venkatesh, students, staff members, and TTI personnel Rajesh and Krishna.
