The Fashion Design aspirants of JD Institute were given an opportunity to have an informative session with Ms Garima Ghai, entrepreneur and fashion designer by profession. Ms Garima has an experience of 11+ years in the industry. She has worked with the famous fashion designer and renowned name of the industry Rahul Mishra. During her work tenure, she has actively worked to increase the brand visibility with her innovative and creative design. Currently, Garima is working on her own sustainable kidswear label, PIXIE to bring a positive change in the fashion industry.

Ms Garima visited the JD Institute campus on 14th December, 2022 and conducted a workshop on Design Thinking Process which forms the base of the design education. The 3 hour long session helped the Jediiians understand the basics from the industry and market point. The session started with Ms Garima giving a small brief about her working experience in the industry and how the design thinking process is one of the most important aspects of design development. She also presented how having a strong grasp over the process helps in curating a better design and exploring it with creativity. The session became interactive when the design aspirants were also given a task. Groups were formed and the Jediiians had to discuss and present their idea in front of others giving intricate details.

The talk session and the workshop helped the Jediiians understand the process better with a practical approach. It opened their eyes about the market demands and how to align their creativity accordingly to be a successful designer. Moreover, the process also helped the aspiring designers understand each other’s ideas and how to incorporate different factors while working.

Design education needs a practical approach and requires constant market and industry exposure.
