Different Types Of Beauty Blenders

The standard beauty blender shape that is practical for makeup application

The beauty blender was created for the purpose of blending makeup products such as moisturizer, foundation or any liquid makeup into the skin and leaving the makeup on without a poreless and smooth base. It is known for its ‘exclusive aqua-activated foam’. The sphere shape of the sponge makes it accessible to reach any part of the face contour. Like any other beauty bender, it is to be wet before use. Although this blender seems to have all the qualities that are needed for applying makeup on perfectly, it has its cons. The biggest con on using this beauty blender is that it will absorb most of the makeup products.

2. Wedge Shaped Beauty Blender:

The flat edge helps achieve a smoother and even finish to the makeup

The wedge shaped beauty blender is similar to that of the sphere shaped beauty blender, in many ways. But the key difference between the two, is obviously, the shape. The wedge shaped beauty blender is flat, which makes the application of makeup even and smoother than the end result of the sphere shaped beauty blender. This blender can be used, both in wet and dry form. It needs to be used in a tapping and circular motion to get the best end result. The shape of this blender can be used to apply on the ‘skinny’ parts of the face, for example, for nose contour, under the eye and even around the eyebrows. Although this blender may seem like the ideal, it does have its negatives. It is intended for a one time use, making it an expensive investment, the same blender cannot be used for both the cream and powder makeup, and since the shape is small, it will be more time consuming in application of makeup.

3. Pretty Puff Beauty Blender:
Different Types Of Beauty Blenders

A mix of wedged and sphere beauty blender for the ultimate finish

This beauty blender is the best of both worlds. It has the flat side similar to that of the wedged beauty blender and the curved sphere shape of the standard beauty blender. It is also proven to last longer than the other beauty blenders. This too has its cons. In order for the blender to last as long as it does, it needs to be washed and cleaned after every use. It can be cleaned using regular soap and or dish soap.

4. Silicone Makeup Sponge:
Different Types Of Beauty Blenders

Silicone beauty blender, is the best blender for base liquid makeup

Though this new beauty blender may look like a pliable silicone bra inserts. It is most commonly flat rounded edges which is used to apply cream or liquid makeup products only. The biggest advantage of using this beauty blender, is that it does not absorb any makeup products and it is used completely without wasting any. In order to get the best end result, it is best to add foundation in dots onto the skin and use a ‘pushing motion’ so it will fill in the pores. The pros of this blender is that it does not absorb the makeup products, it also does not harbor any bacteria, and the con is that despite the fact that it has a smooth application finish it is not the greatest option for blending.

5. Microfiber Makeup Sponge:
Different Types Of Beauty Blenders

Microfiber beauty blender has the same feel and end result of a makeup brush

The microfibre sponge is similar to that of makeup brushes. While the silicone makeup sponge does not cater to the powder products in makeup application, the microfibre sponge will be the perfect substitute for it. It is also easier than carrying your makeup brushes all around as it also does the job of makeup brushes. The only disadvantage of using a  microfibre sponge is that it can be time consuming.

Different types of beauty blenders provide various end results that may not suit everyone or every makeup product when being applied. But using sponges do have their pros and cons.
