From Introvert to Runway Ready — by Disha Bohra

Before JD, fashion wasn’t even on my radar. I was a quiet introvert who loved stitching and embroidery as a hobby, not something I ever thought would turn into a career. But my parents saw something in me and nudged me to join the JD Institute.

That decision changed everything.

My turning point came with the JD Design Awards. The theme scared me at first. But something inside told me — I have to do this. I have to create something I’m proud of. So I said yes. Even though I was scared.

Every part of the journey — council duties, backstage roles, the designing process — pulled me out of my shell. I learned to take space, own my ideas, and trust my voice.

There were rejections, no doubt. So many times I wanted to quit. So many classmates quit. But I stayed. And every critique, every “do it again,” made me stronger.

My biggest lesson? It’s not about perfection. It’s about showing up. About giving everything, even when you’re terrified. On jury day, I stood tall. I wasn’t just a designer — I was someone who didn’t give up.

To anyone walking the same path: push through. You’ll thank yourself later.
