Collaboration Shoot between Styling, Makeup and Photography Department

Collaboration Shoot between the Department of Styling, Post-Graduation Diploma in Fashion Communication, Makeup and Hairstyle Artistry and Photography was held recently at the JD Institute of Fashion Technology. A three day shoot was put up with nine different looks and concepts which were categorized as Bridal looks on (Day 01), Character Driven looks on (Day 02) and Creative Looks on (Day 03). The students created DJ Bride, Steampunk Bridal Look and Shackled Bride as concepts for the Bridal Looks. The look consisted of both a traditional bridal look which could bring a twist in the theme. Day 02 of Character Driven Looks consisted of concepts like the Disney Character Maleficent, Cyber Punk and Pop Art from the unique Art Movement.

DJ BRIDE

DJ Bride, the look was inspired by Pop Music was amalgamated with a Maharashtrian Bride. The look was styled with a gold bridal saree draped in Maharashtrian Style, Black jacket with gold embellishment and red embroidery to give it a western touch and gold jewellery to enhance the traditional delicate bridal look. The makeup was kept subtle to complement the outfit. The look gave the pop culture edgy vibe to the bride with different lighting and angles for the photographs.

Steampunk Bridal Look

Steampunk Bridal Look, was a cross between Steampunk and Bridal Theme. A retro futuristic subgenre of fiction, which included science fiction and technology inspired by the 19th century Industrial machineries. The look has been conceptualized as an unconventional Bridal look. The look incorporated brown leather with golden embellishments and paired it up with a white saree. The Makeup was kept subtle with Smokey brown eyes with a tinge of gold for the eyes with brown nude lips, while the hairstyle included a center partition with a low bun. SHACKLED BRIDE

Shackled Bride, showcasing the bride with the wordplay “Wedlock”, as to how marriage entraps women with great potential inside four walls. The first look portrays a happy go bride styled as an ideal South Indian Bride which looks clear in the eyes of the viewer. Whereas the second look portrays how the bride is locked of her dreams from inside which is shown through the power surrealism by adding chains and padlocks. The model was styled in a rich red saree with kemp jewellery, with an Ideal south Indian Bridal Makeup and low bun hairstyle accessorized with flowers.

Maleficent

Maleficent is portrayed as an ultimate personification of pure evil with a temper and extremely proud character in the movie, played by an actress. Whereas the look was styled on a male model to give it a twist. Styled in a black long gown with Smokey eye makeup, extreme contour, black lips the character came to life with accessories like horns, wands and chains on the neck.

Cyber Punk

Cyber Punk, the concept is about a human being intentionally or unintentionally behaving like a robot. The look is styled with black jersey shorts, LED lights stuck on the body of the model and silver acrylic powder to represent circuit forms and paired with a white eye shield. Long exposure photography techniques were used to give life to the picture.

Pop Art

Pop Art is a classic style of art mainly based on Comic illustrations. The model here is styled in basic white shirt, black trousers, suspenders, bow tie and a fedora. The makeup is inspired from comic illustrations of pale skin by using white foundation, halftone effect and bright green hair. Hand painted badges were used as the pop elements. The photos were taken showcasing different emotions representing various looks from the comic books.

Line Art

The concept here is Line Art and is inspired from Minimalism. To portray it, the look is styled with a plain orange body con dress, black fishnet stockings, afro box braids and bold minimal makeup. Usage of plain black net fabric with a hand embroidered mask was the twist implemented to amalgamate line art in a contemporary manner. The Mask was the main styling element and design emphasis of the look. The usage of the mask is relatable in the current scenario, as the mask has become an essential part of our wardrobe.

Editorial Ninja Look

Editorial Ninja Look, the stylist aimed to infuse traditional ninja look with modern Japanese fashion, the outfit included a bandeau shorts set with a floral kimono. The look had editorial makeup with a high sleek ponytail and finally gave it a bold look by using a sword as a prop.

Boho Tribe

A fusion look of the Boho and the tribal look. The colour Gold was the emphasis of the look and was styled in a rose gold dress, heels, editorial gold makeup and turban to give it a tribal look.
