‘‘The desire to create is one of the deepest yearnings of the human soul.’’

The quote above tells us about the kind of dedication and commitment that goes into creating something beautiful and that’s what the Interior students of the Lavelle Road campus of JD Institute of Fashion Technology did on 31st of March, 2015. They put up an artistically creative art exhibit where the theme was ‘Abstractism’. Titled, “Abstraction and conceptualization of images”- an exhibition organized by the interior design students saw some powerful forms of abstract art. Most often abstract art is misunderstood but that ironically, is the beauty of it. Exhibits of abstract art are definitely spurting and the artists are seen painting their interpretations of what they see.

JD Institute of Fashion Technology, Bangalore recently celebrated International Women's Day across all its centers. The day began with an interactive discussion between the faculty members and the students of the various departments on the pertinent and contemporary issues of women's safety and the multi-faceted roles of women in today's society. Post panel discussions, the faculty members organized various creative DIY activities, where students were required to design and creative products with the underlying theme of women's empowerment.

In association with the Bangalore Fashion Week, the students of JD Institute of Fashion Technology showcased a spectacular display chronicling 10 defining milestones in the history of fashion right from the 1700s to the present age. Beginning from Marie Antoinette, through Coco Chanel in the 1920s and to the present rage of Eco Fashion, the humble sewing machine has evolved over the ages.

The students decided to create a garment using the ancient art of Origami, often associated with paper sculptures and designs made from ordinary pieces of paper, serving to give a futuristic appeal to the installation. The students worked laboriously for days to create hundreds of origami pieces to convey the gradual yet bold transition from the world of black and white to riotous colors in the field of fashion.
