Future of life wear design – Talk by UNIQLO
JEDIIIANS are prepping up for JD Annual Design Awards 2018 and are all set to change the world, fashion norms in the line of innovative, sustainable and ethical collection. An informative talk session by the brand UNIQLO was organized by JD Institute of Fashion Technology on the significance of creating a sustainable solution for an innovative future.
UNIQLO is a leading global Japanese retailer company that encapsulates a clear vision and inspires the world to dress casually. Contrary to its name, its clothes are simple, essential, yet universal, enabling the wearers to blend themselves with their individualistic style. Aligned with their corporate statement: “Changing clothes, changing conventional wisdom, change the world’, they are aiming to enrich people’s lives through their product and unique corporate activities.
The talk revolved around the company’s profile on how they look to the future and banks on the concept of life wear. The idea of creating a life wear design is to ensure that everyone irrespective of their income, age, social status can wear it. They briefed our fashion design course students that a design must be meaningful and should solve a purpose. Apart from it, students have acknowledged the importance of recycling initiative which the brand opts for.
Mr Lu Junsheng from Uniqlo addressed our students with their new concept of ‘Airism’ that focuses on comfort, conditioning technology. This smart base layer copes with all sorts of conditions under outfits and automatically adjust and provides comfort. Knowing such wonderful concepts and ideologies of a brand helps our students to be innovative and think out of the box yet be meaningful to it. A dedication to quality and its purpose is the mantra to any design, however, our fashion design course students are striving for it in their upcoming collection. This was a very useful seminar for students, as it was not only an opportunity for them to know about the brand but also to associate with them in future.
