The integration of technology in the domain of Interior Design is nascent to the market. Design and Tech industry since a long time has been dependent on each other, however the intersection of the two has always been on the scales. As the world has become tech-driven, Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality in Interior, Metaverse and more, showcase the adaptation of latest tech in the design domain.

Over the past few years we have noticed that VR Tech has become an integral part of interior design to enhance the experience of the client. For an interior designer it not only helps in conveying the idea but also reduces the workload by giving a tour of the shortcoming.

JD School of Design believes in inculcating the right methods to the learners along with keeping them in pace with the latest technology. Going ahead on the same lines, a workshop on virtual reality in interiors has been conducted inside the campus. Usman Farooqi and team from Nectar lab, Goa, conducted the workshop wherein 35 students and 4 faculty members from the Interior department were present.

The workshop started with an overview of virtual reality and its applications in interior design. The speaker demonstrated how to use virtual reality technology to create immersive and interactive design presentations for clients. (https://www.collegehippo.com/) The benefits of virtual reality in interior design were  discussed, including the ability to create realistic 3D models of designs, envision the design in different lighting conditions and environments, and identify possible design issues before actual construction begins.

The speaker also discussed how virtual reality can be used to improve the design process by allowing clients to explore and provide feedback on the design in a more engaging and  interactive way.

The session was followed by a demonstration of virtual reality technology, with students getting  the opportunity to try on VR gears and experience a virtual tour of an interior design project. The demonstration provided students with a first-hand experience of how virtual reality can be  incorporated into design presentations.

Overall, the workshop provided valuable insights into the applications of virtual reality in interior design and how it can be used to enhance the design process. The demonstration using VR gears helped students to understand the technology and its potential applications in the field of interior design.
